Shōka arrangements are triangular and based on three main lines: shin, the central “truth” branch, soe, the supporting branches, and tai, the branches near the base that balance the structure. Together, they symbolize heaven, man, and earth, representing the whole universe.

The collage is made using the traditional cut-and-paste collage technique with images from old magazines and recycled vintage book illustrations.
